Monday is pizza day. We all piled into the car to go pick up our pizza and hurry home to eat it while it was still hot. However, on our way home we saw a 63 year old man get hit by a car while riding his bicycle . Luckily the driver just barely bumped him and knocked him off balance, but he tipped over and hit his head on the cement (didn't have any cuts or scrapes - lucky guy). He wasn't wearing a helmet so he's lucky she just barely tapped him. It taught me a lesson that even being bumped a little bit by a car can send you flying and you should never ride your bike without a helmet because you never know if some driver will be texting and not paying attention and hit you. The lady that hit him was so white trash she didn't want anyone to call the police. We are sure that she was on her phone or texting or something. I never once heard her say she was sorry. She didn't seem shaken at all that she had just hit a man with her car. She kept saying, "he's fine, just let him ride home - I don't have insurance I can't pay for any emergency care." The police were called anyway and he was a bit embarrassed that a police car, ambulance and fire truck showed up, but better safe than sorry. The paramedics checked him out and determined he was fine, so Joseph and I ended up putting his bike on our bike rack and giving him a ride home.
An hour later we pulled into our driveway with a cold pizza, crying baby, and barking dog. We were so glad we could help the man home but next week we'll pay to have our pizza delivered.
