Homesick

So I hate to admit it, but I miss BYU. I have been so excited and nervous to start dental hygiene at UVU, and now after my first week at the school, I can't help but glance longingly toward the Y on the mountain. Things are good. . . the 13 other girls are nice. . . I get to work with Joseph. . . the school work isn't really hard yet, but I can help but miss my alma mater, my friends, the athletic department, modesty, smart people. . . ok, that last one was a bit harsh (sorry to Joseph and Will and anyone else that goes to UVU, I wasn't talking about you). I guess I must accept the fact that I have gotten so used to a school, that despite the fact that I wouldn't be going there anyway, I wish that I was. As for now I must suck it up and stop complaining, and get used to the fact that things can't always be the same (or I might just drive Joseph insane).

Graduation

Well college has now come and gone, and all I have to show for it is a fake diploma and this one picture. Joseph figured he'd let everyone else take the pictures so this is all I have for now.

At least it's a good one.

Davis County Fair

A lovely couple, No?

Gotta love the fair. My little sister Whitney entered a baby blanket that she made for "our baby that we are going to have in three years." Here are a couple of pictures from the fair. Unfortunately these pictures were the highlight of our visit. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Slumber Party

(They say she looks just like me. . . I don't see it.)

My youngest sister Whitney has been begging for a sleepover all summer. She also always wants to ride bikes with us. Here are a few biking pictures from our slumber party.

Fizgig - Our Pseudo Pet

Joseph and I discovered about two weeks ago that the girl upstairs has a little Yorkie. We are partial to Yorkies, since my parents own probably the smallest Yorkie most people have ever seen. Rosie is what they call her and she is our favorite little dog. We've been wishing lately that we had a little dog to play with and take care of, and just when we started looking for one we discovered Fizgig. Fizgig is the cutest little Yorkie (besides our beloved Rosie). He is about one, and he LOVES us. This is no overstatement, seeing as how whenever he is upstairs he is scratching on the door and crying to come down and play with us. We take him for walks and give him treats. He takes naps with us and plays fetch. He is the perfect little dog. In fact we sort of want to steal him. But alas, we signed a contract that says we won't have any pets. So we have accepted the fact that we have a pseudo pet. . . one we can play with and love, and then give back to be bathed when he's smelly or hungry. Here's some pictures of him.

He flares his ears out and cocks his head whenever you talk to him. (Don't mind the creepy eyes)

Out on a walk. . . he refused to look at the camera.

Cute little Fizzy!

"The Chainsaw Massacre"

The 24th of July has come and gone this year, but this year has been unlike any other, and will definitely be one that will never be forgotten. From my previous post you know that Joseph underwent a tonsillectomy a little over a week ago. Some days have been good ones and some not so good in his recovery process, but he was feeling good enough to make the journey up to Bear Lake to spend our long weekend with the majority of his family. We drove up on Thursday evening and had a wonderful time that night. . . only to wake at 5:45 am the next morning to a very frightening situation. Blood was gushing from the back of Joseph's throat. Now I don't know much about tonsillectomies, but I do know that this is NOT normal. So after waking up everyone in the house and running to the car to rush over the mountain to Logan (a 45 min. drive), we safely made it to the ER. Of course it was like every ER visit I've ever known: by the time we got there the bleeding had stopped and the doctor said he was fine, but he recommended that we wait for an hour for the local ENT to come in for the day to take a look. Of course we followed this recommendation and wheeled Joseph through the maze of hallways over to his office where we filled out more paper work and waited a bit longer. By this time Joseph was in so much pain and was so hungry that he became angry. So the poor doctor tried his magic with an angry, hungry Joseph. A bit of topical numbing solution and an attempt to cauterize the bleeding spot and lots of gagging later, we got back in the car and drove the hour back to Bear Lake.

Now my point in telling this story is not to make you sad for Joseph or me, but to express my love for my wonderful Watson family. A big thanks to my father-in-law for driving us down to the hospital and being the calm one among our nervousness. Another BIG thank you to Will and Marlowe for being the crime scene clean up crew who wiped up the bathroom that people were saying looked like the "Chainsaw Massacre." A big thanks to my mother-in-law who quickly threw on her clothes to come with us only to see the tail lights down the street, and for being the wonderful caring woman that she is (it's always good to have a mom around, they always know what to do). And a big thank you to everyone else there who loves and supports (or so we think) us despite the fact that we made a big mess, ditched out on all of the fun activities, and then left the party early. Watsons you are the BEST and I couldn't have done any better.
