You have got to read this!

You know those books you read. . . and LOVE. . . and are sad when you finish because the story is over?  This totally one of them:

My fantastic sister-in-law recommended it and so Joseph bought it for me for Christmas.  When I opened the book and saw the format it was written in I thought, "a book written in letter format? Well that was a waste of money."  But I gave it a try anyway and I absolutely LOVED this book!  Please read it. . . . I promise you will love it.

Also Ruby has teeth. . . and CRAZY hair, but what's new?

One year older and wiser too!

Happy birthday to me!  Yesterday was my birthday. . . and it was a wonderful day.  The weather was awesome.  I participated in Bountiful Baskets, Joseph made me breakfast and then took me to the outlet mall.  It was also free pretzel day at Auntie Anne's in honor of me.  I got 3 pairs of pants (including some orange skinnies) and a shirt. . . and a water bottle cage for my bike.  We finished off the day with a late afternoon nap and dinner at Chili's.  The day was fun, the company fantastic, the gifts are just what I wanted, and I'm finally old enough to drink :)  A good birthday!

My love/hate relationship with WinCo

A WinCo Foods was just opened next to my house. . . literally next door.  I can throw a rock from my porch and hit the WinCo Foods.  I have been looking forward to the grand opening since the day we moved here.  I've been dreaming of the ease of shopping and the ability to run next door to grab some eggs if I'm out or grab that one ingredient that I don't have on hand for my meal.  Today was the grand opening.  Today?  Today.  Sunday.  I've shed many a tear on my ad listing the great grand opening deals they have going on today.  I spat out my window at the many cars coming in and out of the parking lot on my way to and from church.  No grand opening day for me.  I hate you WinCo Foods for opening on Sunday. . . .but I love you all the same.  It's a shame that we have a relationship like this and we haven't even been properly introduced.  

Mucocele

The lip bubble wasn't an irritation fibroma like we suspected. . . it was a mucocele.  Crazy!

The Usual

Nothing too exciting is going on around these parts.  Joseph reads a lot every second of the day and Ruby and I play.  Occasionally Joseph and I sneak away for a bike ride (with the girls), on Monday we saw a wolf on our ride.  We did get to see the Donnie & Marie show which was awesome (thanks Jessie!).  Other than that we just do our normal thing. . . . the usual.  He's some pictures of us doing the usual.

Surprise!!

The Lubble

Today marked Ruby's second visit to a dentist.  Incredible foresight for me to become a hygienist don't you think? 

When Ruby was about a week old I noticed a few little bumps on the inside of her lower lip.  For all my hygiene ladies. . . I was just keeping fresh on my intra-oral exams :)  At first I thought they were three tiny mucoceles (tiny fluid filled sacks that occur when a salivary duct becomes blocked).  But over time one grew larger and larger until it was almost the size of a small pea and was not fluid filled but similar to lip tissue.  Joseph worried while I kept an eye on it and measured it occasionally with my probe.  I talked to Ruby's pediatrician about it and we finally came to the conclusion that since teething time was upon us and it was continuing to grow that it might be time to have it removed. 

And so today we did just that.  Ruby saw Dr. Manny who was awesome and got her little lubble (lip bubble) removed.  The Dr. and I figure it is some type of fibroma and it is off to the lab for a diagnosis.  I made Joseph come for moral support although he refused to come into the treatment room.  Ruby screamed her guts out and cried big tears and struggled to free herself from the papoose board, but other than that did great.  I was worried that I would have a hard time. . . but I was great!  (Big sigh of relief).  I tried to refrain from getting in the Dr.'s way to see what he was doing.  Joseph on the other hand had to walk outside a couple of times to be out of earshot of Ruby's crying.   Overall everyone survived.  Joseph is deleting the memory by watching national signing day, Ruby is down for a LONG nap, and I'm grateful for the background I have in hygiene that helped us get through this experience with no tears (from the parents).

Our trip to DC and is that a boy or girl?

Ruby and I visited Washington DC for a few days in January for my cousin's wedding. I'm way lame-o and didn't take but a few pictures and I'm now collecting pictures from my family that had extra hands to take pictures for me. Thanks everyone. Here are a couple that I took:

So it's pretty lame that I only took pictures of the first thing we did on our trip.  I'm working on growing an extra set of hands so that the two that I currently have can hold Ruby and the diaper bag and the two new ones can do all of the other things I need to do while holding Ruby and the diaper bag. . . like taking pictures on my vacations.

On to a completely different thought.  People ask me all the time if my baby is a boy or girl.  Really?  In all pink?  I don't always have a bow in her hair but really?
